New Computer Games From Sesame Street

Sesame Street has some new computer programs designed for children to learn and interact with their parents.

What they are: The programs, Sesame Street First Steps and Sesame Street Learn, Play & Grow (PC and MAC) include Elmo, Ernie, Big Bird and Zoe helping kids to sing songs, play games and learn the beginnings of language in various activities.

Who they're for: First Steps is designed for children ages 1 { to 3 years and includes 12 activities, including sing-along songs and introduction to colors, shapes, seasons, numbers and letters, along with animal sounds and names.

Children will be surprised by different sounds the keyboard makes after touching specific keys to produce sounds. Although clicking a mouse can often be frustrating for beginners, this program does not require any mouse clicks. The program responds to the slightest movement of the mouse.

Learn, Play & Grow is for ages 2 to 4 years and is designed with an emphasis on early childhood learning and self-esteem-building. Appearances are made by Elmo, Big Bird and Cookie Monster to help children in language skills, counting, music and listening and computer skills.

Extras: Features include teaching social skills in the area of taking turns. The program also will adjust to match a child's skill level and includes classic Sesame Street videos.
