Ethos Networks, a pioneer in connection oriented Ethernet solutions, today announced its NXTcomm 2008 PBT Ecosystem Showcase. The Showcase will include a demonstration of a live Traffic Engineered Provider Backbone Bridging (PBB-TE) network running several real-time point-to-multipoint and point-to-point applications with multiple vendors across the NXTcomm show floor. The set up includes devices from Ethos Networks, Nortel Networks, and IXIA, all members of the Carrier Ethernet Ecosystem, an industry consortium committed to helping carriers meet the exponential growth in metro area networks.

Visitors to Ethos Networks booth (SL4112) will get an introduction to Ethos’ complete Connection Oriented Ethernet (COE) solution including PBB-TE Ethernet switches and a network management system combining management resource analysis and optimization. The live showcase demonstration, running between Ecosystem vendors, will highlight a comprehensive PBB-TE network using a variety of Carrier Ethernet network elements and will include management & control plane software. In addition, Ethos Networks’ team will demonstrate the ease and simplicity of managing COE by tearing down and reconstructing the PBB-TE network from the ground up live at the show.

Ethos Networks breakthrough technology replaces the erratic behavior of existing packet networks and operates with deterministic control over all customer traffic to ensure strict end-to-end assurances and to maximize resources within the network. With Ethos’ solution, carriers will be able to deliver higher bandwidth, revenue- generating Ethernet services, together with legacy services, at the cost and simplicity of a PBT network.

“The features, standards and vendors of the Carrier Ethernet community have made immense progress in the past year. Ethernet technology is now at a level of maturity at which it can provide carriers with a wide variety of solid solutions that fit the needs of carrier networks especially at the access and aggregation levels,” said Yossi Shussman, CEO of Ethos Networks. “At NXTcomm 2008, Ethos will demonstrate to carriers how Ethos’ solutions can support multipoint connectivity, protected services, and multicast applications today allowing carriers to take advantage of the simplicity and total cost of ownership benefits of PBT while meeting their network demands.”

About Ethos Networks

Ethos Networks has pioneered connection oriented Ethernet by providing a dramatically enhanced solution for intelligent network traffic engineering. Ethos provides a complete solution including PBB-TE devices and a network management system combining management resource analysis and optimization. Ethos’ solution utilizes advanced traffic engineering while employing Ethernet as a single transport technology thus creating a congestion free metro packet network and retaining the advantages of PBB-TE simplicity.

The Ethos platform is the first packet transport system of its type developed from the ground up with a service centric approach. Ethos’ carrier-grade transport solution enables the delivery of any network service with strict end-to-end assurances. With Ethos’ solution carriers can guarantee end-to-end QoS and offer an unlimited variety of services, enabling the increase of revenues and reduction of the total cost of managing Ethernet networks.

Ethos Networks is a member of the Carrier Ethernet Ecosystem, an industry consortium committed to helping carriers meet the exponential growth in metro area networks.
