Juniper Networks Expands Portfolio of Ethernet Services Routers

Posted on: Tuesday, 17 June 2008, 09:00 CDT

Juniper Networks has expanded the range of interface cards for its MX-series portfolio of ethernet services routers with the addition of three new interchangeable dense port concentrator families.

According to the company, with increased flexibility to support a wider range of ethernet network architectures in both the enterprise and service provider markets, its MX-series provides customers with the ability to expand and accelerate the deployment of carrier-class ethernet networks and services, reducing cost and complexity in additional parts of the network.

Interchangeable across the entire MX-series family, including the MX240, MX480 and MX960, the new dense port concentrator (DPC) cards include: new copper-based Tri-rate (10/100/1000) ethernet DPCs which enable customers to support low-speed interfaces as well as the existing high-speed interface options, new 20Gbps DPCs, new multi-rate DPCs, which increase flexibility and efficiency by enabling customers to support both gigabit and 10 gigabit ethernet interfaces on a single line card, said Juniper.

Kim Perdikou, executive vice president and general manager of infrastructure products group at Juniper Networks, said: "As we continue to expand the MX-series with new functionality that addresses evolving business requirements of both our service provider and enterprise customers, we will continue to help them reduce costs and complexity across an expanding range of network deployments."
