Safe Eyes 5.0 Parental Control Software Honored With LAPTOP Editors’ Choice Award

Safe Eyes(TM) 5.0, the latest edition of Internet parental control software from InternetSafety.com, has received a LAPTOP Editors' Choice Award from LAPTOP magazine for the "impressive range" of protection options it offers to help parents safeguard their children when they are online. Safe Eyes ranked the highest of all parental control programs reviewed by the publication and was the only one of the group to earn the Editors' Choice designation.

The award is the latest in a series of honors for Safe Eyes, including a recent 2008 Parents' Choice Approved award from the Parents' Choice Foundation as well as two consecutive Editors' Choice awards from PC Magazine.

"Safe Eyes 5.0 covers more bases than any other parental control program," according to LAPTOP's analysis. "(The program's) easy-to-control interface and powerful controls, especially for social networking protection, will leave parents anxiety-free."

The review specifically praised unusual Safe Eyes features including its ability to detect and document the posting of personal information such as an address or phone number to social networking sites, save the full text of IM conversations, and alert parents via e-mail, text message or phone when a child tries to access restricted sites. Editors also commended the product for blocking 35 categories of inappropriate Web sites, supporting three PC or Mac computers with a single license, and working with multiple Internet browsers including Firefox, Internet Explorer and Safari.

The full review is available at http://www.laptopmag.com/review/software/safe-eyes.aspx It will also appear in the Reviews section of LAPTOP's July issue, on sale June 17.

"This award is significant because it is based on in-depth comparisons of six products in the parental control category. As the editors discovered, there are concrete differences that can affect parents' ability to monitor their children's Internet use effectively," said Forrest Collier, CEO of InternetSafety.com. "Safe Eyes is built to provide maximum control as well as complete flexibility, and that clearly came through in LAPTOP's evaluation."

Safe Eyes is a comprehensive program that enables parents to easily block objectionable websites, control Internet use by length of time as well as time of day and day of the week, block or record instant messenger chats, and block peer-to-peer file sharing programs that may expose children to dangerous material. It also allows parents to limit email use to certain addresses, and receive alerts when children post inappropriate or personal information on social networking sites like MySpace and Facebook.

The software provides broader controls than any other filtering product, including the ability to define which websites will be blocked by category, URL and keyword; receive instant alerts about inappropriate online behavior by email, text message or phone call; and remotely change program settings or view reports from any Internet-enabled computer.

Safe Eyes is also the only program of its kind that can be used in mixed Mac/PC households. A single $49.95 annual subscription covers up to three Mac and/or PC computers with the ability to customize settings for each child and enforce them on any machine. The product's website blacklist is updated automatically every day, eliminating the need for manual updates. Safe Eyes can be downloaded at www.SafeEyes.com.
