BLADE Network Technologies, Inc., the industry leader in network virtualization and high-performance solutions for servers and storage, announced at HP Technology Forum that its Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet switches for the HP BladeSystem c7000-cg (carrier grade) enclosure have been certified as NEBS/ETSI compliant. Equipped with BLADE's embedded Layer 2/3 Gigabit and 10 Gigabit Ethernet switches, the HP BladeSystem c7000-cg is a high-performance solution for telecommunications providers' voice, video, data and wireless infrastructures. BLADE's switches for HP's BladeSystem will be displayed at the HP Technology Forum in BLADE's Booth #733 from June 16-19 in Las Vegas, NV.
"Our NEBS/ETSI-compliant blade server switches for HP BladeSystem empower telecom data center architects to standardize on a unified and affordable rack-level network infrastructure," said Vikram Mehta, President and CEO, BLADE Network Technologies. "Our embedded blade server switches enable telecommunications providers to deploy HP BladeSystem equipped with the same highly reliable, high-performance Ethernet networking as the standard BladeSystem c-Class platform to contain total cost of ownership, deliver greater return on investment and increase business flexibility in their telecom network functions."
BLADE switches can eliminate up to 94 percent of cabling compared to other connection options and provide significant power savings over external chassis-based switches, dramatically reducing data center costs and complexity. In addition to NEBS/ETSI compliance, BLADE switches are also fully compliant with the European Union's Restriction on Hazardous Materials (RoHS) directive.
"Customers can expand their product portfolios and increase the scale of their applications by implementing high-performing networking components with HP BladeSystem," said Mark Potter, Vice President, BladeSystem, HP. "Paired together, HP's leading BladeSystem design and BLADE's networking innovations speed data transfer rates, which is paramount for next-generation unified telecom infrastructures."
BLADE's 10Gb Ethernet BL-c Switch is the first switch for HP BladeSystem c7000-cg to deliver full 10Gb Ethernet connectivity directly to each server blade. Using the BLADE 10G Ethernet switch, the HP BladeSystem c7000-cg can be equipped to provide 400 gigabits of Ethernet bandwidth for the high throughput and low latency required by blade server virtualization workloads, high-performance telecommunication applications and converged "single fabric" Ethernet networks.
BLADE's GbE2c Layer 2/3 Ethernet Blade Switch offers exceptional reliability, security and wire-speed store-and-forward switching performance at an economical price, and seamlessly integrates an HP BladeSystem into any Ethernet network infrastructure. To prevent traffic from unnecessary exposure to the outside network, the GbE2c Layer 2/3 switch utilizes IP Forwarding within HP BladeSystem. Another in a series of industry firsts for BLADE, this enables network traffic to be forwarded between VLANs without the need for an external router or Layer 3 switch.
