PAETEC CTO to Discuss IP Network Evolution at NXTcomm08 Panel
Today at NXTcomm08, the Chief Technology Officer of PAETEC Holding Corp. (NASDAQ GS: PAET) will discuss the key areas that communications carriers must consider to ensure a successful migration from existing Time Division Multiplexing (TDM) technology to the greater efficiencies and capabilities of Internet Protocol-based (IP) networking.
PAETEC delivers data and voice communications to business-class customers nationwide. The company's solutions include IP-based Voice over Internet Protocol (VoIP) and traditional TDM-based services as well as hybrid solutions.
Chris MacFarland, PAETEC's Chief Technology Officer, will be part of an International Engineering Consortium Forum that will address the topic of "Network Transformation to IP Core" at NXTcomm08 at the Las Vegas Convention Center. The NXTcomm show is the premier telecommunications industry event in North America and draws a global audience of industry leaders.
"IP-based networking is moving dreams of next-generation communications from the drawing board to the mainstream market," MacFarland said. "The shift from existing TDM-based communications is an evolution that requires careful planning to accommodate current customers while setting a platform for an operator's future growth."
IP-based communications are growing much more rapidly than TDM-based networking, but TDM continues to represent an enormous installed base of users. MacFarland will discuss the needs and roles of employees, vendors and strategic partners in establishing an IP-based service delivery architecture.
