PhotonEx Names Walt Prusak Head of North America Customer Unit

MAYNARD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--July 29, 2003--PhotonEx(TM) Corp., the leading developer of next-generation 40 Gb/s and 10 Gb/s core optical networking systems, today announced the appointment of Walt Prusak to head its North America Customer Unit.

In this role, Mr. Prusak is responsible for leading PhotonEx' service provider customer support operations in North America. He also supports customer initiatives with the Department of Defense, Education and Research and other federal agencies involved in fiber optics communications programs, including the Global Information Grid Bandwidth Expansion (GIG BE) network.

With over 29 years of experience in the communications networking industry, Mr. Prusak brings a tremendous depth and range of expertise, having held business unit management roles as well as positions in customer service, sales, engineering, product management, marketing, field operations, business development and project management. Before joining PhotonEx, Mr. Prusak was Corporate Officer & Vice President for Rapid5 Networks, and COO for Algety Inc., the North American Subsidiary of Algety Corporation. Prior to these start-ups, he spent over 20 years with large telecommunications equipment providers, predominantly with Lucent Technologies Inc.

Mr. Prusak holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Stevens Institute of Technology, and a Master of Science degree from Drexel University, both in Engineering. He received an M.B.A. from the Wharton School at the University of Pennsylvania, and an M.S. in Technology Management from the University of Pennsylvania.
