Microsemi Joins Polycom ARENA Program
IRVINE, Calif., June 19, 2008 (PRIME NEWSWIRE) — Microsemi Corporation (Nasdaq:MSCC), a leading manufacturer of high performance analog mixed signal integrated circuits and high reliability semiconductors, today announced that it has joined the Polycom ARENA(tm) partner program.
Polycom, a leader in unified collaboration communications, initiated the ARENA program to allow software application providers, hardware device manufacturers, and conferencing solution providers to integrate their products with Polycom’s industry leading unified collaboration platform to create new applications.
Microsemi’s PowerDsine(r) Systems provide an easy, cost-efficient way to supply power over existing Ethernet infrastructures (PoE) for Polycom SoundPoint(r) IP phones 320/330, 430, 550, 560, 650 and 670. A single Ethernet cable can transmit both data and power to Polycom SoundPoint IP phones, eliminating the need to install new power outlets. Because PowerDsine midspans augment existing communications switches, they also avoid the installation of costly new PoE switches.
The integration of Polycom SoundPoint IP phones with PowerDsine PoE systems includes PowerView Pro(tm) management software that enables comprehensive remote control of power — from the universal power supply to the end devices — for improved energy efficiency, reduced electrical costs and enhanced troubleshooting capabilities. The PowerDsine Systems portfolio includes midspan models able to supply up to 32 watts of power and with Gigabit capabilities for the growing number of high power network devices.
“PowerDsine Systems involvement in the Polycom ARENA program delivers an integrated solution for Polycom SoundPoint IP phones that can help customers simplify their deployment and lower costs,” said Steven G. Litchfield, Executive Vice President and President of Microsemi’s Analog Mixed Signal Group.
“Polycom and its ARENA ecosystem partners such as Microsemi are focused on proliferating new collaborative communications solutions that will benefit organizations worldwide. The PowerDsine Systems solution addresses the need for cost-effective power over Ethernet capability for Polycom SoundPoint IP phones,” said Mark Roberts, vice president, Polycom ARENA program. “We are pleased to welcome Microsemi into the Polycom ARENA program and look forward to working them to deliver this important solution to customers.”
As part of the agreement, Microsemi will leverage the Polycom platform, brand, and channels to bring their PoE solutions to market. Polycom ARENA ecosystem partners can develop, test and certify interoperability between their solutions and the Polycom platform of voice, video and content collaborative solutions. In addition to platform API’s provided to developers, the Polycom ARENA offers a number of marketing and sales tools for business development managers as well as marketing and sales professionals via an online portal. These tools help partners speed time-to-market for their innovative unified collaborative solutions as well as broaden the reach to customers worldwide.
Pricing and Availability
PowerDsine Systems are widely available through authorized distributors, with pricing in the $30-$50 per port range. For more information about PoE solutions, visit Polycom ARENA partner solution showcase at www.polycom.com/ARENA or http://microsemi.com/Powerdsine.
