Groupware Technology Named As Sun Microsystems EMAP Partner in Oregon
PORTLAND, Ore., June 19 /PRNewswire/ -- Groupware Technology, Inc., rated by Inc. Magazine as the fastest growing IT company of 2007, has been chosen by Sun Microsystems to be an EMAP (Educational Market Allowance Program) partner in the state of Oregon.
Sun's decision reflects the vendor's confidence in Groupware's educational market expertise, said Groupware General Manager Tim Carver. The certification allows Groupware to sell Sun products at compellingly discounted pricing -- and with expanded financing options -- to schools in Oregon, particularly those involved in higher education, said Carver. The IT solution provider can now offer its full breadth of professional services, including design and integration of complex Sun solutions, to the education market. With the EMAP partnership in place, Groupware can reduce shipment times of Sun products and services with preferred access to Sun inventory.
Groupware's hiring of industry veteran Dan Lacey to be senior account executive for the Oregon educational market and for other key commercial accounts played a big part in Sun's decision to name the company as an EMAP partner, said Carver. Lacey's background includes 11 years at Sun, five years at Symantec and two years at Oracle. Groupware also hired a new systems engineer, Derek Olson, to aid with EMAP system design and installation.
"We're excited to be able to participate with Sun in going after the higher-education market in the State of Oregon," said Carver. "Dan has 25-plus years of experience in technology in this marketplace and he's a true asset to both Sun and Groupware in this space."
