New Web Site Connects Voters and Candidates
By Bryan Dean, The Oklahoman
Jun. 22–Oklahoma voters have a new way to learn about candidates running for public office.
ElectOK.com, a new Web site being launched today by the OPUBCO Communications Group, will offer candidates a chance to connect with voters and gives voters a place to compare candidates in every race.
Rob Wescott, vice president of audience development for OPUBCO Communications Group, said the site will give all kinds of information direct from the candidates to the voters.
“It’s for folks who want to go into the voting booth with a clear understanding of who they are voting for and why,” Wescott said. “Candidates also have the option to include active blogs, list endorsements of people who support them, upload photos from their campaign, list events.”
The site also gives candidates the option to upload video or audio podcasts and post campaign commercials. Candidates can change their message on the site as the issues in the race change.
Voters can find the races on their ballot by entering their address and bookmarking candidates they want to track so they can come back to their pages to view new information.
“This is just one more piece of what we’re doing digitally to help people find information and interact with information online,” Wescott said.
