Nooksack Valley Disposal Takes Electronic Products

Jun. 24--On July 1, Nooksack Valley Disposal will begin accepting used computers and electronic products for a fee at its Lynden transfer station.

Nooksack Valley Disposal is contracting with Safe & Easy Recycling of Bellingham, which recycles obsolete electronics.

Safe & Easy Recycling accepts computers, keyboards, routers, printers, copiers, stereo systems, speakers, telephones, cell phones, plasma screens and much more. Safe & Easy Recycling will ensure that all computer hard drives and memory devices are wiped clean of any sensitive data.

The charge for recycling most electronic products at Nooksack Valley Disposal's Lynden transfer station is 3 cents per pound ($2 minimum) to cover shipping costs. A surcharge of $8 to $25 will be added for televisions and computer monitors.

Recyclable computers and electronic products may be taken to Nooksack Valley Disposal's transfer station at 250 Birch Bay-Lynden Road, a half-mile west of Guide Meridian. That station is open from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. weekdays and 9 a.m. to noon Saturdays.

Also, Nooksack Valley Disposal's 354-JUNK service will pick up items for a fee.

Nooksack Valley Disposal serves customers in the cities of Lynden, Everson, Nooksack and Sumas, plus rural areas from Interstate 5 east to the foothills of Mount Baker.

All residents of Whatcom County also may recycle their computers and electronic products at Safe & Easy Recycling's Bellingham facility, 2001 Iowa St., Suite F, across the street from Northwest Honda. For more information, call Nooksack Valley Disposal at 354-3400.
