Cox Arizona Has Increased Speeds for High-Speed Internet Customers

Posted on: Tuesday, 24 June 2008, 18:02 CDT

PHOENIX, June 24 /PRNewswire/ -- Cox Communications announced a major speed increase for its high-speed Internet customers today. This speed increase is a free upgrade and has already been implemented, so there is no need for customers to call or have a field technician visit their home.

Customers who choose Cox's Preferred and Premier packages will notice that their download speeds increased as much as one-third and their uploads doubled thanks to the addition of PowerBoost for uploads.

"We recognize that customers are using the Internet for more intense purposes -- online gaming, downloading music and sharing photos and videos," stated Ivan Johnson, Vice President of Community Relations & TeleVideo. "The faster speeds we have rolled out enhance the value that high-speed customers get from Cox, while ensuring that they spend more time doing what they want online and less time waiting for a slow DSL or dial-up connection."

The Preferred package is ideal for surfing the Web and downloading photos, videos and music. Premier offers the fastest speeds and is great for power gamers, telecommuters and households with home networks connecting multiple computers. PowerBoost for uploads is an extension of the PowerBoost technology that Cox rolled out last year to increase the speed of downloads for Preferred and Premier customers. This cable-exclusive technology gives customers an extra burst of speed when they need it most - when they're receiving or sending large files like photos, movies or music over the Internet. Preferred customers can actually experience speeds up to 12 Mbps down/1 Mbps up and Premier customers can go up to 20 Mbps down/2 Mbps up.
