Bright House Networks Deploys Digital Content Monitoring Solutions From Mixed Signals

Posted on: Wednesday, 25 June 2008, 09:02 CDT

Mixed Signals, the leading provider of digital content monitoring systems, today announced that its Sentry(R) and Medius(TM) digital content monitoring solutions are being used by Bright House Networks, the nation's sixth largest cable television operator, to ensure the optimum picture and sound quality of its programming.

Bright House Networks has deployed Sentry nationwide including its major Florida cable systems serving Orlando and Tampa, and its systems serving Indianapolis, Indiana; Birmingham, Alabama; Bakersfield, California; and other markets.

"We take quality of service for our subscribers very seriously, and we continually seek ways to further improve our already high levels," said Jeff Chen, Senior Vice President, Advanced Technology for Bright House Networks. "After looking at a variety of alternative approaches and products, we chose Mixed Signals' Sentry, because its comprehensive features help us maintain and improve the quality of our services. It will also aid us in rolling out new services in the future."

Bright House Networks is initially using Sentry to ensure its programming -- both standard and high definition -- is delivered to subscribers with the best possible picture and sound quality. This is accomplished by closely monitoring each program at the MPEG, IP and quality levels, enabling issues to be resolved before subscribers are affected. Sentry is the only solution on the market that continually monitors each individual program at all three levels. In addition to monitoring regular programming, Bright House Networks will use Sentry to monitor digital ad insertions and data carousels.

"As one of the nation's premiere cable operators, Bright House Networks is well known throughout the industry for its commitment to innovation and to providing its subscribers with superior service," said Eric Conley, CEO of Mixed Signals. "Bright House Network's deployment of Sentry nationwide is a tremendous win for Mixed Signals and illustrates the industry's growing demand for our content monitoring solutions, which are used by five of the top six U.S. cable operators."

Complementing Sentry, Bright House Networks is also using Mixed Signals' Medius remote monitoring and management system to control all the Sentrys from a central location. Using Medius, Bright House Networks can quickly and easily monitor every Sentry in a particular cable system, providing an unparalleled and comprehensive view of the network as a whole and of the programs flowing through the network. Bright House Networks has currently deployed Medius in the network operation centers (NOC) of its Tampa and Orlando cable systems.
