Yahoo! Licenses Urban Mapping Database Product

Urban Mapping, a provider of location-rich content for interactive applications, has announced that Yahoo! has licensed Urbanware: Neighborhoods, Urban Mapping's database product of more than 40,000 neighborhood boundaries covering more than 2,000 US cities and towns.
With Urban Mapping's neighborhood boundary data, Yahoo! now delivers geographically-meaningful and targeted results based on actual search behavior.
Urban Mapping's Urbanware: Neighborhoods is the most comprehensive database of neighborhood boundaries available, enabling increased relevance for users and greater precision for advertisers across a variety of mobile and desktop applications in local search, mapping, real estate, yellow pages and other interactive applications.
Urbanware: Neighborhoods accounts for the inherent 'fuzziness' in defining neighborhood boundaries by using a patent-pending data model. By geographically encoding boundaries of thousands of neighborhoods, Urban Mapping provides precise latitude and longitude points for every neighborhood covered in its Urbanware database.
Urban Mapping's collection of neighborhood boundary information is compiled using thousands of primary sources, drawing on real estate, tourism, retail and hospitality industries. In addition to US neighborhood boundary data, Urbanware: Neighborhoods also includes a growing collection of international neighborhood boundary data across Canadian and European cities.

Created in response to customers’ requests, this spatial dataset will include neighborhoods for approximately 100 cities in over 15 European countries by the end of 2009. Maponics International Neighborhood Boundaries is available for quarterly delivery in SHP, KML, many additional file formats and can be accessed via the recently released Maponics Spatial API.
