Factiva Drives Adoption of Sales Portals and Improves Sales Effectiveness; New API for Factiva SalesWorks Enhances Sales Tools With Company, Industry and Executive Information and News

Posted on: Wednesday, 20 April 2005, 06:00 CDT

Factiva(R), a Dow Jones and Reuters Company, today announced further enhancements to its recently released Factiva SalesWorks(SM) and Factiva Companies & Executives(SM) offerings that will assist organizations to better manage and grow customer relationships, drive sales productivity and boost revenue performance.

The release today of Factiva Developer's Kit 3.0 - Factiva's enhanced application programming interface - now allows the rich content and functionality available in Factiva SalesWorks and Factiva Companies & Executives to be easily and quickly integrated into the enterprise applications that salespeople, and business, marketing and information professionals use everyday. Such applications include sales force automation tools, customer relationship management systems (CRMs), third party or in-house portals, intranets and Microsoft Office(R) 2003.

Since the launch of Factiva SalesWorks and Factiva Companies & Executives on January 25, 2005, organizations around the world have been quick to understand the value of providing their sales teams and other functional areas with credible and timely business information. Prescients, a demand creation company based in Connecticut, is one of the first vendors to benefit from the integration capabilities of Factiva's sales productivity solutions.

"Our clients are looking for the most efficient way to identify and nurture prospects. By integrating Factiva SalesWorks into our Unified Profile Database, client marketing and sales departments are generating more information on who they already know, discovering new opportunities within the prospect organization and uncovering new prospects in peer enterprises. Not only are leads qualified based on our proprietary algorithms, but with Factiva's powerful content set, sales teams and management spend less time searching and more time selling with a measurable acceleration in qualified prospect conversion." says Marty Bell, founder and CEO of Prescients. "In terms of the technical integration, the flexibility of Factiva Developer's Kit allowed us to integrate this critical information quickly and efficiently."

Factiva Developer's Kit is an application programming interface (API) that provides developers with application agnostic, platform independent, XML-based programmatic access to the majority of functionality and content available on the Factiva platform. It allows companies to develop customized applications with extensive personalization that integrates both Factiva's content and functionality into their business applications and end-users workflow, such as a CRM/SFA, Portal or Intranet.

"Managing customer relationships in the most effective way is a challenge that virtually every organization must consider on an ongoing basis. This issue affects many parts of an organization - the sales team's ability to be prepared for their next sales call, the business development team's ability to maintain and grow existing accounts, and the IT team's decisions about which infrastructure and applications best support the customer relationship management effort," says Alan Scott, Chief Marketing Officer, Factiva.

"The new integration capabilities of Factiva's sales productivity solutions are designed to help companies both drive adoption of their enterprise applications, and more importantly, equip the users of those applications with timely information and news about companies, industries and executives, to ensure they can understand, manage and ultimately create better business relationships."
