CITTIO Launches Industry's Most Powerful, Easy-to-Use Network Monitoring Solution With New Watchtower 2.4

Posted on: Wednesday, 20 April 2005, 09:00 CDT

WatchTower 2.4 Delivers Enterprise-Class Performance and Scalability, Enhanced Monitoring for Simplified Operations, and More Intuitive User Interface

CITTIO Inc., (formerly JJ Labs) the innovation leader in network monitoring and operations software, today announced the newest release of CITTIO's flagship product, WatchTower(TM) 2.4. Offering a combination of performance enhancements for high-end scalability, new monitoring functionality to simplify network operations, plus enhancements to a proven intuitive user interface, this new release reinforces WatchTower as the solution of choice for large and mid-sized enterprises.

CITTIO customers, including Blue Cross/Blue Shield of Hawaii, the National Parks Conservation Foundation, and Capitol Advantage, are looking forward to the release of WatchTower 2.4.

"We evaluated competing solutions and found that WatchTower 2.4 was the only network monitoring software that was easy-to-use, cost effective, and had the capabilities our growing network required," said Claudio Cuestas, systems administrator at Capitol Advantage. "Within 24 hours after installation of WatchTower, we were able to monitor all devices, services, and interfaces on our network, managing the vast amount of data around California's gubernatorial recall with ease."

"IT needs products that automate performance monitoring," said Jamie Lerner, CEO of CITTIO. "We developed WatchTower 2.4 in response to the frustrations of managers who have had to respond to situations that never should have become problems. Our customers now have the functionality they need to monitor their networks without adding IT resources or experiencing a drop in uptime or performance. This can save companies millions of dollars in just a few years."

About WatchTower 2.4

Network operations experts at CITTIO designed WatchTower to simplify network management, while delivering the most cost-effective, easy-to-use enterprise monitoring software on the market. WatchTower 2.4 tracks system operations using Simple Network Monitoring Protocol (SNMP) to monitor network devices, software applications, database servers, and more. This feature queries vital statistics and receives traps from remote servers and devices. Users can send emails or pager alerts, and can configure automated responses to system alerts.

WatchTower 2.4 is easy to deploy and maintain. It does not require months of training, customization, and system integration, lowering the overall cost of managing and maintaining an IT infrastructure.

Among other features, WatchTower 2.4 offers a new user interface that meets the needs of system administrators and network managers, as well as automatic latency monitoring, graphing, and thresholding for quick response. Specifically, the new version includes:

Latency monitoring: WatchTower 2.4 pollers now collect response times from each node and all services on a given node. Response-time data is automatically graphed and thresholds can be set if an application is not responding within configurable time parameters. Administrators can view server, switch, port, or application response times and be notified of anomalies.

Real-time monitoring: A new real-time session monitor for Microsoft Windows(R) servers allows system administrators to see all current sessions on any server. The interface monitor displays traffic in Mbps and bps, and displays data transfer in megabytes and bytes -- allowing users to view the amount of data and percentage of network use on any port or network card.

Configurable polling engine: Individual pollers and groups of nodes can be configured for different levels of polling sensitivity, providing granular device polling that can be tuned to different locations or components on the network. WatchTower uses a less sensitive polling configuration for older, slower equipment, avoiding "one-size-fits-all" polling configurations.

Advanced reports: Three new standard reports have been added including an IP address report, an asset report and a notification report. These reports allow users to quickly list, locate, and identify assets on a network.

Enterprise-class performance: WatchTower 2.4 includes significant improvements to SNMP data collection, allowing a WatchTower system to collect many more SNMP variables without requiring additional hardware.
