ROUND ROCK, Texas (AP) -- Longtime Dell Computer Corp. board director Michael H. Jordan has resigned because of demands of his new position as chairman of the board and chief executive officer of Electronic Data Systems Corp. (EDS)
Dell said Wednesday there was no immediate plan to replace Jordan, who has been on the board for 10 years. He took the job at EDS last month.
"Michael has played a critical role on our board during an exceptional period in Dell's history," chief executive and chairman Michael Dell said. "His insight and guidance have been invaluable throughout our evolution from an aspiring, $2 billion company to a global leader in information technology."
In trading on the Nasdaq Stock Market, Dell shares fell 58 cents, or 2 percent, to close Wednesday at $28.01.
