Amazon Creates New Latin American Customer Contact Site

Internet retailer Amazon is developing a new Latin American customer contact site, reported the Financial Times.
According to the newspaper, the retailer expects the new site to help it tap the growing potential of the Latin American market along with enhancing service levels. A huge team of associates and managers will be employed to manage the site.
Currently, Amazon sells to customers in the Latin American region through its US site.
In Canada, the UK, Germany, France, China and Japan, Amazon maintains separate international sites. Figures from Media Metrix reveal that traffic to Amazon's US site from Latin America is much higher than the traffic to the company's independent French site.
However, at the moment it is not clear whether the company will target the new Latin American site at servicing existing customers who use its US-based site, or will it be aimed at supporting a future direct presence in Latin America.
