Hewlett-Packard Fax Machines Recalled
July 1, 2008
The U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission announced a voluntary recall of two models of Hewlett-Packard fax machines due to a fire hazard.
The HP Fax 1010 and 1010xi fax machines can overheat, causing a risk of fire, CPSC said in a statement said. No injuries have been reported.
About 367,000 of the machines imported from China by Hewlett-Packard Co. of Palo Alto, Calif., were sold nationwide from November 2002 through September 2004 for $130-$150.
Consumers were advised to disconnect the machine from the electric power source and contact HP to receive a rebate.
Consumers can call HP at 888-654-9296 for information.
