If You Glaze It, They Will Come
By Kevin Bouffard, The Ledger, Lakeland, Fla.
Jun. 28--Young entrepreneur Christina Ferraira, 22, decided her hometown needed a doughnut shop, so she opened the Polk City Donut Shop earlier this month.Ferraira said she's always wanted to own her own business and do something for the town, which has never had a doughnut shop. Hers is open Mondays through Saturdays from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m., although she'll stay later at the customers' request. It also serves sandwiches, including the "house hoagie," during the day, and is conveniently located next to the post office at 120 Carter Blvd. So mail that letter, then grab a fritter and a hot cup of joe.
