Microsoft and Micro Focus Form Modernization Alliance

Microsoft and Micro Focus International have formed an alliance to enable mainframe applications to run on Windows.

Micro Focus will extend its Windows technology portfolio to provide customers with managed-code 64-bit offerings to take advantage of the Microsoft .NET Framework, SQL Server, Team Foundation Server, BizTalk Server, and System Center Operations Manager.

Bill Hilf, general manager for Windows server marketing at Microsoft, said: "With Micro Focus we are improving the value attained by mainframe customers choosing to go with the Windows platform for their modernization strategy, improving ROI and reducing deployment costs."
