Alltel Rolls Out Broadband Network in Midland and Odessa

Alltel Wireless has announced that it will continue expanding its wireless broadband network in 2008 with the launch of EVDO Revision A technology in Midland and Odessa in the US, enabling customers to upload files five to 10 times faster than before.
According to the company, its customers using Rev A will experience average upload speeds of 500-800Kbps with bursts up to 1.8Mbps. Download speeds also will increase. Rev A download speeds average 600Kbps to 1.4Mbps, with bursts up to 3.1Mbps. By comparison, downloads on the existing broadband network average 400-700Kbps with bursts up to 2.4Mbps.
Terri Larson, vice president of business solutions for Alltel, said: "Alltel Wireless is committed to bringing our customers the fast wireless broadband service they expect in their business and personal lives. This network upgrade in the Midland-Odessa area will give our customers secure, reliable access to the latest wireless technology."
