BMC Software Upgrades Its BMC Software Advantage for Microsoft Windows Server Software Package With Latest Version of PATROL

HOUSTON, April 26 /PRNewswire-FirstCall/ -- BMC Software, Inc. , a leading provider of enterprise management solutions, today announced the availability of its BMC Software(R) Advantage for Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Servers software package, including the newest release of PATROL(R) for Microsoft Windows Servers, which provides customers tools for simplified monitoring and management of Windows environments. The company also announced that Casa Ley, one of Mexico's leading supermarket chains, has selected BMC Software Advantage for Microsoft Windows Servers to improve their system availability, and to become more proactive in the management of their Windows infrastructure.

Organizations are increasingly deploying mission-critical applications on Microsoft Windows Server Systems, making management of these applications essential to ensuring business service availability. As a result, organizations such as Casa Ley are turning to the BMC Software Advantage for Microsoft Windows Servers software package to automate the monitoring and management of servers in their Windows environment and enable more effective administration of these complex environments. The Advantage package is a combination of seven leading BMC Software products, including PATROL Express, the PATROL Central Operator -- Windows Console, and the most recent version of PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers.

BMC Software Advantage for Microsoft Windows Servers is a pre-packaged software bundle, which BMC Software developed based upon feedback from customers regarding the tools they need to manage complex Windows environments. The software bundle allows IT personnel to easily monitor the health of all their critical components in a Microsoft Windows Server environment, including Microsoft Active Directory(R), Microsoft Exchange Servers, Microsoft Terminal Services, IIS and Microsoft SQL Server. The Advantage package also provides users the flexibility to select either remote or local agent-based monitoring depending on their business needs.

The new version of PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers, version 3.1, enhances the Advantage package by providing automated monitoring and management features which enable administrators to handle complex Windows server environments more effectively and achieve optimal performance and availability from their systems. The new version includes expanded controls and an easier wizard-driven interface for selecting the services businesses want to monitor and the monitoring parameters. It also features enhanced WMI support, which protects against sub-service memory failures, and greatly improved event notification capabilities.

To simplify implementation and rollout, PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers now includes a collection of best-practices settings to assist administrators with both initial and consistent threshold monitoring rules for their environments. PATROL Configuration Manager (PCM) rule-sets are included with PATROL for Microsoft Windows Servers 3.1 for specific environments such as Active Directory Domain Controllers, File or Print Servers, DNS Servers and other functional areas.
