Sun Microsystems has announced the integration of its Java Platform Micro Edition, Java ME, on HP's iPaq 900 Series Business Messenger smartphone.
The HP iPAQ 900 series Business Messenger offers Windows Mobile 6.1, and wireless technologies including tri-band UMTS/HSDPA, quad-band GSM/GPRS/EDGE, Bluetooth, and Wi-Fi.
The company will provide a binary Java ME implementation for the HP device based on Sun Java Wireless Client software, enabling Java applications to run on the device. The software integrates with the native Windows Mobile 6.1 user interface to enable customers to view email in the original HTML format.
Earlier this year, the company announced plans to launch Java ME for Apple's iPhone and iPod touch.
