Moonwalk Highlights 2008 First Half Success With Expanded U.S. Presence and Industry Awards
Moonwalk Inc., the Australian developer of all-inclusive data management and protection software, continued on its roadmap of success during the first half of 2008, highlighted by the expansion of its customer base and reseller network in the U.S., more industry awards and the availability of Moonwalk 6.0 across Novell's NetWare and Linux platforms.
With its innovative storage management technology, Moonwalk has created a global customer base of world-class organizations across a range of industry sectors including government, health, finance, research, education and manufacturing. As an enterprise class solution it currently supports and protects the data of thousands of users in data centers across the world. So far in 2008, Moonwalk has extended its presence in the U.S. adding more than 20 channel partners selling Moonwalk-centric storage solutions and three new premier customers, including the country's largest municipal transportation management agency, one of the busiest ports in the U.S.
"We continue to be gratified with customer response to our innovative storage management technology and with the company's phased expansion into markets around the globe," said Peter Harvey, CEO of Moonwalk. "With success components we have put in place and the product evaluations now underway, we expect to continue our rapid global expansion and customer success during second half of 2008."
The IT industry has taken notice of Moonwalk's achievements as the company continues to rack up editorial excellence wards. Moonwalk was recently awarded Storage Management Product of the Year for 2008 by TechWorld UK. The company was also named a finalist for Storage Management Software Product of the Year by Tech Target, and Computer Reseller News designated Moonwalk as an "Emerging Tech Dynamo" for 2007 and 2008. Moonwalk has earned the distinction of a spot on Byte and Switch's "Top 10 Startups to Watch" list and eWeek's list of the "10 Disruptive New Storage Technologies (That) Promise Big Changes."
Moonwalk has been closely linked with Novell from its beginnings when the company identified the need specifically to migrate Novell NetWare files across tiers of storage. Moonwalk recently added the latest chapter to its Novell relationship by extending Moonwalk 6.0 support to Novell's Open Enterprise Server 2, which combines workgroup services from Novell with SUSE(R) Linux Enterprise Server, completing the Open Enterprise Server shift to providing workgroup services entirely on Linux. It includes dynamic storage technology for user-defined policies, storage management enhancements and Netware virtualization. The move enables Novell-Moonwalk users to run any mix of Netware 6.0, Netware 6.5 and OES2 under one data management umbrella - a single data management system. They can also take full advantage of the powerful data migration, move and copy capabilities delivered by Moonwalk, reducing capital expenditures on their storage infrastructure by automatically migrating data from expensive platform-captive primary storage volumes to cheaper secondary tiers.
Moonwalk for Netware automates and intelligently manages the migration of unstructured data from the Novell Storage Services File System to additional tiers within the storage infrastructure. Netware-captive files can be released for storage on Linux, Windows, and NFS while users and applications remain unaffected. Moonwalk for Netware is fully integrated with the Moonwalk family of technology supporting interoperability with Windows, Linux, NFS, EMC Centera, Caringo CAStor, Hitachi HCAP and Amazon S3 Internet Storage.
