Software and Silicon Combination Enables Next Generation Ethernet Solutions with Industry-Leading Features and Performance
LVL7 Systems, Inc., the leading provider of production-ready networking software to communication system manufacturers around the world, has announced FASTPATH(R) software support for Broadcom's industry leading StrataXGS III(TM) switching silicon family.
The latest version of FASTPATH software leverages the advanced capabilities of the Broadcom(R) StrataXGS III silicon to enable new generations of Ethernet networking systems featuring higher densities, increased speeds, and integrated support for security, IPv6 routing, advanced Quality of Service (QoS), and wireless Local Area Networks (WLANs). These new Ethernet systems can deliver new levels of reliability, security and performance for the communication of voice, video and data traffic.
To showcase the networking potential represented by this new software+silicon combination, LVL7 will host demonstrations during Networld+Interop at the LVL7 suite at "THE Hotel at Mandalay Bay." Highlights of the FASTPATH-StrataXGS III showcase include: fabric stacking over Broadcom HiGig(TM) stacking technology, front-panel stacking over Gigabit Ethernet network ports, IPv6 routing, Denial of Service prevention, and multicast video with QoS. Also planned are advanced views of new FASTPATH networking software for the small-and-medium business (SMB) marketplace and a FASTPATH-powered chassis-based system, also integrated with Broadcom silicon.
"The rapid integration of LVL7's FASTPATH software and Broadcom's StrataXGS(R) silicon clearly demonstrates continued growth in the working relationship between our companies," said Dr. Ford G. Tamer, Group Vice President and General Manager of Broadcom's Networking Infrastructure Group. "The seamless migration from the StrataXGS II to StrataXGS III product family via the Broadcom switch API accelerates our customers' delivery of advanced switching products to market."
The combination of LVL7's FASTPATH software and Broadcom's StrataXGS III family of Ethernet switch chips is making its mark across networking markets. This integrated solution is ideal for standalone, stackable and chassis switch configurations and readily supports deployments in enterprise, service provider and grid computing markets. In addition, the LVL7-Broadcom combination is well-suited for embedded applications in blade server, IP DSLAM (Internet protocol digital subscriber line access multiplexers), and AdvancedTCA(R) (Advanced telecom computing architecture) environments.
"LVL7 continues to accelerate the networking industry's transition to third party production-ready networking solutions," said Dave King, Vice President of Marketing & Strategy for LVL7. "More importantly, the benefits of a strong Broadcom-LVL7 relationship - advanced technology, higher performance, and faster time-to-market - go directly to our mutual OEM customers in Enterprise, Data Center, and Carrier markets."
The initial version of LVL7's FASTPATH networking software supporting Broadcom StrataXGS III silicon will be available in May 2005. General availability is expected later this summer.
