APC joined the Cisco Technology Developer Program as an IP Communications participant. Through participation in the Cisco Technology Developer Program, APC's InfraStruXure architecture with PowerChute Network Shutdown Agent v 2.2.1 and Network Management Card v 2.5.3 provides enterprise customers with a comprehensive solution for IP telephony applications.
InfraStruXure, on-demand architecture for NCPI, provides the network interfaces to safely shutdown CallManager 4.0(2) in the event of a power failure. Three InfraStruXure components -- APC's Network Management Card, PowerChute Network Shutdown software, and any certified InfraStruXure uninterruptible power supply (UPS) -- allow interoperability with Cisco CallManager. If power is lost or specific temperature thresholds exceeded, APC's Network Management Card, installed in any certified InfraStruXure UPS, will communicate securely to APC's PowerChute Network Shutdown software that is loaded on the CallManager server. This software can then shutdown the CallManager software and operating system (OS) in a controlled fashion. The InfraStruXure design, which integrates power, cooling, rack, management and services, allows the selection of standardized components to create a solution through modular and mobile configurations.
The Cisco Technology Developer Program sets criteria for interoperability testing and helps leading product and services firms to deploy innovative business solutions. The program provides enterprise or service provider customers with information regarding Cisco Technology Developer Partner products and services that the Cisco Technology Developer Partner believes meet the program's criteria for interoperability with Cisco networking technology.
"The APC automated shutdown procedure for Cisco CallManager ensures that our application is protected from unpredictable power and temperature anomalies," said Joe Summers, information technology manager for Morrisson Cohen LLP, a New York City based law firm specializing in commercial law. "This gives us the peace of mind to know that our operation will not be interrupted by factors historically beyond our control."
"At Network Information Systems we strategically partner with vendors that provide a high level of interoperability with critical components of the IT operation," said Steve Walls, director of engineering for Network Information Systems, an APC InfraStruXure Certified Partner. "APC excels in this regard by providing 'out of the box' compatibility with most of our major IT vendors. In the case of IP telephony, APC provides an unattended shutdown over the network for CallManager 4.0(2)."
"Cisco supports open, standards-based architectures and shares a commitment to interoperable solutions with APC," said Rick Tywoniak, manager of Cisco Technology Developer Partner Program, IP Communications. "Through this vision the Cisco Technology Developer Program delivers the power of choice to enterprises -- the ability to extend the Cisco end-to-end architecture with our participants' solid products and technologies. With Cisco Technology Developer Program member offerings such as APC's InfraStruXure architecture, customers can deploy a broad range of business solutions that foster innovation and drive rapid adoption of business-critical technologies."
