PassAlong Networks, Digital Edge Sponsor Digital Nashville Group
Media distribution developer PassAlong Networks(TM) has partnered with local networking group Digital Nashville, an organization dedicated to bringing together professionals working in or interested in digital media in Nashville. PassAlong is a corporate sponsor of the group and has representation on its advisory board via Skip Franklin, PassAlong’s SVP of Business Development.
“Nashville attracts a tremendous amount of digital talent,” said Franklin, “but the talent here has not been empowered or organized the way it has in places like Seattle or the Bay Area. The creation of Digital Nashville is a step forward for Nashville and the digit-heads who live here.”
Digital Nashville’s goal is to enable and develop digital talent and activity in Middle Tennessee. Group projects will include compiling an industry directory, organizing casual networking and knowledge-sharing social and educational events, and facilitating recruiting connections between job seekers and talent hunters. In addition to Franklin, the advisory board is comprised of members Elin Eifler, Jeff Skillen, Kelly Stewart, Erich Goss and executive director Katy Kirby.
Digital Nashville is the brainchild of four digital media executives: Elin Eifler, who was relocating to Nashville from Atlanta where she was guiding Turner Broadcasting’s digital initiative; Erich Goss, a former Product Manager at Amazon in Seattle; Jeff Skillen, a former SVP at Gibson where he helped guide Guitar Hero; and Skip Franklin, who founded several digital media companies in Seattle before moving to Nashville to join PassAlong in 2004.
“The four of us met for coffee one day back in 2007 and the discussion quickly turned to the lack of a digital presence in Nashville as compared to other U.S. cities,” said Franklin. “However, we soon realized that the problem was not a lack of digital presence but a lack of an organized digital presence. Digital Nashville is the culmination of what was conceptualized in that discussion.”
Digital Nashville is hosting its first networking event at Uptown 162 on Thursday, July 10 from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m. If you’d like to attend please RSVP to Katy Kirby at 615-254-1277. More information can be found at http://DigitalNashville.ning.com.
