Through its mediacurves.com web site, HCD Research will provide media outlets with the ability to test levels of agreement and believability, and measure the emotions of participants as they view local, regional and national political ads, entertainment events and controversial statements.
According to Glenn Kessler, president and CEO HCD Research, the service will provide news and information web sites with a new interactive capability that will allow them to obtain and report public perceptions on events that Americans will be talking about.
As participants view an ad or video segment, they indicate their levels of agreement by moving their mouse from left to right on a continuum. The responses are recorded in quarter-second intervals and reported in the form of automated response curves. The same method is used to obtain levels of believability. The participants' emotions can also be measured using a validated emotion battery.
In addition, the service will allow media outlets to ask participants several pre- and post-viewing questions, to determine if their perceptions or levels of support have changed after viewing an ad or video segment.
