Mail-Filters.com Inc., a global leader in OEM anti-spam and anti-phishing solutions, providing technology for its OEM partners that filters billions of messages a day in more than 100 countries and 30 languages, and Tarari(R) Inc., the award-winning acceleration company, today announced a technology alliance and design partnership. Mail-Filters and Tarari will work together to develop silicon-accelerated anti-spam solutions for high-performance appliances based on Tarari's content processing technology and Mail-Filters industry leading anti-spam and anti-phishing technology. The two companies will OEM these joint solutions to network equipment manufacturers and security appliance vendors.
IDC has predicted that worldwide revenues of anti-spam solutions -- software and hosted services -- will reach $1.7 billion in 2008. But this staggering number doesn't begin to tell the story of worker productivity lost due to spam and the malware it delivers, or the cost of over-provisioning bandwidth and servers to keep spam-laden traffic flowing. Today, any host can become a spam relay, which drives the need to have comprehensive spam detection and blocking capabilities at every point on the network.
"Mail-Filters proprietary next-generation anti-spam solutions was designed from the ground-up to offer the industry's most accurate spam protection in over 30 languages," said Daniel Ashby, Senior Vice President of Mail-Filters.com. "Our technology has always been recognized for accuracy and performance. Our joint Mail-Filters/Tarari solutions will further build upon this success to enable enterprises and data centers to deploy anti-spam technology and new levels of processing performance."
In order to accurately find spam, it is essential to look deeply and intelligently at the content of each and every e-mail message. Tarari's silicon-based Content Processors have been designed specifically to greatly accelerate the task of the high-speed content inspection. This combined with Mail-Filter's sophisticated software which analyzes, classifies, and processes the results of this inspection provide a powerful solution. The end result is that with Mail-Filters' expertise and technology to provide comprehensive anti-spam detection and Tarari's content processing silicon technology which provides detailed content evaluation at rates up to 8 Gbps enables a new generation of high performance anti-spam product offerings.
"There is a big demand for high-speed spam processing. Our partnership with Mail-Filters creates the opportunity for network security OEMs to address this demand with the integrated combination of Mail-Filters proven software stack and our Content Processor silicon," said Randy Smerik, president and CEO of Tarari, Inc.
About Tarari Content Processors
Tarari's Regular Expression Content Processor (RegEx-CP) offloads the work of network security applications from conventional CPUs to Tarari hardware. The RegEx-CP allows the inspection and filtering of files and attachments at wire speeds. Similarly, the Random Access XML Content Processor (RAX-CP), the industry's first in-silicon XML solution, relieves network congestion by accelerating the parsing of XML messages and documents by more than 40 times.
