Advantage Telcom To Distribute Encore Networks IP+Legacy VPN Network Access Products

Posted on: Monday, 2 May 2005, 12:00 CDT

Encore Networks today announced a nationwide agreement with Advantage Telcom, a distributor of Wide Area and Local Area networking equipment. Advantage Telcom will offer Encore's complete line of IP+Legacy protocol data routers and broadband Virtual Private Network (VPN) security appliances for cellular, wireless, satellite, terrestrial and hybrid networks.

Headquartered in San Antonio, Texas, Advantage Telcom is a value-added distributor of Wide Area, Local Area, and Broadband interworking solutions whose product suite includes technologies for the convergence of voice, data and video communications. Their customers include local and long distance telephone companies, cable television operators, Internet/data communications providers, wireless services providers, private network operators, CLEC's, and small to medium sized businesses. Advantage Telcom will add Encore's solutions to a wide range of products from other networking vendors including Adtran, Alcatel, Zhone, Actelis, net.com, BelAir Networks, Canoga Perkins, CAC, Paradyne and RAD.

"Advantage Telcom has built a solid reputation as a total connectivity solutions source for data, voice and video for both carrier and enterprise customers," stated Peter Madsen, President and CEO of Encore Networks. "We are excited to join with the Advantage team, and help them to continue to offer multi-location businesses ways to improve their bottom line by using technologies that enable them to effectively connect to the latest converged networks."

Designed for IP-based, next generation, multi-service broadband networks, Encore's BANDIT(TM) products are small, but powerful VPN tools that provide router/FRAD, firewall and IPsec VPN functionality, dial backup, Ethernet, and legacy protocol support on one platform. Both service providers and enterprise customers deploy BANDITs for more cost-effective solutions for IP+Legacy VPN, security, and data over a single broadband connection.

"Encore provides our customers with secure, managed IP VPN solutions over various types of existing broadband networks like Frame Relay, DSL, cable, cellular and satellite," said Mike Bauer, Manager of National Accounts of Advantage Telcom. "By adding Encore's products to our portfolio, we have broadened our technology mix and now offer more cost effective options for upgrading slow, legacy networks into fast, secure infrastructures."
