Laptops Among Pounds5,000 Haul Taken in Property Break-In
By PAUL JAMES
Thieves grabbed goods worth nearly pounds5,000 from a property in the Lincombes area of Torquay.
The crime victim, a marketing executive, is offering a pounds500 reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those who broke into his home.
The intruders struck between 6.30pm and 10.30pm on Friday, July 4, possibly getting in through the front door.
They left through the back of the property, taking with them two laptop computers valued between them at pounds1,400.
One was a Toshiba Satellite P200D11R with the serial number SY7270919KSSBL00800LENB.
The computer, worth pounds900, features a memory stick stuck in a plug point after being accidentally inserted. It features pictures of a St Bernard dog.
The other computer, a worn Acer S302 valued at pounds500, has two easily identifiable scratches on it.
Det Con Andy Devey, of Torquay CIT, said: “We think the burglars spent a lot of time inside the property searching for items.”
He added: “We are not quite certain how they got in, but all the doors were left open when they left.”
Computer discs, needed by the victim for his work, were also taken.
Other items snatched were two cameras, a video camcorder, a pearl necklace and other jewellery which included a pink cameo ring with its face cracked.
Anyone with information should contact DC Devey at Torbay police’s car and burglary squad on 01803 841589.
