Nokia Siemens Signs $114m Chunghwa Telecom Deal

Nokia Siemens has won a 72m euro ($114m) contract to upgrade the mobile telecoms network of Taiwan-based telecommunications operator Chunghwa Telecom.
Nokia Siemens will provide network implementation and design, optimization, systems integration, and maintenance services, as well as its Flexi Base Station and mobile soft-switching applications and a high capacity/connectivity RNC.
It will also implement packet core applications including CombiSGSN and FlexiISN for better overall HSPA performance with speeds of up to 2Mbps in the uplink and 14Mbps in the downlink.
Chunghwa Telecom will also trial Nokia Siemens' I-HSPA network.
Mike Wang of Nokia Siemens Networks said: "They have turned to us on numerous occasions to boost their high speed packet data traffic to keep ahead of the market and we in turn have time and again delivered cutting edge technology that sets them apart."
Earlier this month, the company won a similar $869m contract from mobile operator China Mobile.
