Ixia's Leadership of 10 Gigabit Ethernet Test Market Continues With Introduction of Industry's Highest Port Density Solution

The new 10 Gigabit Ethernet LAN Service Module (LSM) offers unprecedented scalability, performance, and service testing flexibility with extensive, high-availability features, including hot-swap capability and on-the-fly test/service alteration. The Ixia 10GE LSM is Ixia's third-generation 10 Gigabit Ethernet LAN/WAN solution, capable of analyzing up to two million flows per port, a number unmatched by any other 10GE test platform.

In addition, the Ixia 10GE solution offers either XENPAK or XFP interfaces on the same module, which greatly extends the user's testing options. The 10GE test solution can track and analyze traffic on a per-port basis for real-time latency, packet jitter, packet loss, data integrity, and sequence checking. The 10GE LSM supports a broad portfolio of edge/core testing solutions for the most demanding test environments, including performance, scalability, and conformance testing of Layer 2-3 routing protocols; and its per-port PowerPC/Linux architecture facilitates high performance Layer 4-7 application layer testing. Further test tool flexibility is gained via Ixia's Linux Software Development Kit for building custom test applications.

The Ixia 10GE LSM is backward compatible with Ixia's existing test platforms, and forward compatible with Ixia's new Optixia X16 and X4 platforms, integrating seamlessly with their unique backplane architecture. The 10GE LSM supports IPv4 and IPv6 wire-speed traffic generation and advanced analysis, as well as IPv4 and IPv6 routing protocol emulation. The Ixia 10GE LSM offers a comprehensive range of service testing solutions for the next-generation service provider networks, including Metro Ethernet E-LAN and E-LINE services; and MPLS VPNs, such as Layer 2 VPNs, Layer 3 RFC 2547 VPNs, and VPLS.
