Former Cisco, GE and Lucent Executive Mark De Simone to Drive Cordys Global Sales and Business Development

Cordys, a leading provider of Business Process Management Suite (BPMS) technology, today announced that Mark De Simone has joined the company in the position of Chief Sales and Business Development Officer. In this role, De Simone will be responsible for driving global sales of Cordys technology, penetrating new geographic markets, developing new delivery models, establishing a comprehensive partner model, and creating strategic alliances around the world. With Cordys revenue having grown 153% during the previous fiscal year, De Simone's experience will help the company to continue to scale its rapidly growing sales function.

"Mark brings leadership experience as a former senior executive at global market leaders such as Cisco, General Electric, HP, Lucent and McKinsey," said Jan Baan, Founder, Executive Chairman and CEO of Cordys Holding B.V. "His experience not only in the U.S. and Europe but in emerging markets will help us seize the tremendous opportunity before us, as evidenced by a recent Gartner report showing Cordys to be the fastest growing BPMS vendor."(1)

De Simone has been instrumental in the rapid development of technology businesses, both at Lucent, where he worked as the CMO for Carly Fiorina when she presided over the Service Provider business, and most recently at Cisco, where he developed Cisco's Emerging Markets MEA business from US$300 million in 2004 to a run rate of almost US$2 billion in 2008. He was instrumental in Cisco's post-merger integration of the WebEx business, working closely with WebEx's former CEO Subrah Iyar on the application mash-up front in key customer accounts and making Mark a strong asset for the market transition that Cordys is leading across the process management continuum.

"Cordys is a global leader in helping companies create a complete Business Operations Platform," De Simone said. "My expertise in rapid growth market transitions at both Lucent and Cisco gives me the experience to drive aggressive growth for Cordys around the world. I look forward to being a part of the commitment to excellence that is pervasive in everything Cordys does."

De Simone has been on the Board of Directors of privately-held Italtel, and currently serves on the Advisory Board of Main Street Technologies submarine cable system. He holds a BS in Engineering from Cornell University and an MBA from Columbia University. A speaker of five languages, he currently resides in London.
