Internet Safety With Chief Toy Officer of iVillage.Com, Elizabeth Werner

July 15, 2008

Our kids have rules for playing in the swimming pool and on the playground, but what about rules for playing online?

Chief Toy Officer Elizabeth Werner has the latest tips on how to talk to your kids about appropriate Internet behavior. She discovered a great resource that is devoted to encouraging parents to discuss Internet safety with their children.

The site can be found on Mattel’s BarbieGirls.com in the Parents’ Place section. The section provides both girls and parents the tools to have the safest and best online experience possible.

Parents’ Place is designed with the parents in mind, who may or may not be as Internet savvy as their kids. The site walks the parents and their kids through a discussion about online safety. The conversation revolves around the “Be Smart Pact,” which guides the parent and child’s discussion about online safety. As part of the pact, the parent and child must make and agree on rules for Internet play.
