Giant Realm, Inc. Announces That Publisher FirstShowing.Net Has Tripled Its Audience of Film Fans Since September
Posted on: Wednesday, 16 July 2008, 09:00 CDT
Giant Realm, Inc., the rapidly growing online entertainment destination and publisher group reaching men 18-34, today announced that film site FirstShowing.net has tripled its traffic since September 2007. The site, which is part of the Giant Realm Publisher Group, now receives 1.2 million visits a month.(1)
FirstShowing.net (www.firstshowing.net) features news, reviews, interviews, trailers, industry rumors, and more, via blog postings which are updated throughout the day. The site is aimed at an audience of young men who share similar interests in films and film-related topics, and who actively participate in FirsShowing.net's lively community. Content currently featured on FirstShowing.net's homepage includes The Dark Knight, Hellboy II, School of Rock 2, Diablo Cody and Comic-Con International, taking place next week in San Diego. The comedian Bob Stencil (http://www.firstshowing.net/bobstencil) will be reporting from the show floor exclusively for FirstShowing.net.
"FirstShowing.net represents a new type of online film site: by combining blog-style editorial with an active community of users, it delivers information and discussions in an authentic voice that today's most passionate film fans can connect with," said James Green, CEO of Giant Realm, Inc. "The sense of community is even stronger since FirstShowing.net specifically targets young guys. It's a great example of the type of sites that we're rolling into the Giant Realm Publisher Group, and we're proud to be exclusively representing it."
In addition to its online presence, FirstShowing.net also has created a following offline, via its lounge located at the Cinemark Cineplex in Colorado Springs. This location is host to numerous FirstShowing.net 'campsite' events throughout the year. To support this week's release of The Dark Knight, FirstShowing.net has announced the "Ultimate Batman Event," which includes a redesigned lounge as well as costume contests, Batman-themed challenges and giveaways, and in-depth scavenger hunts reminiscent of missions from the Joker. FirstShowing.net began hosting these events in 2006 with the release of Superman Returns and has transformed the excitement of 'camping out' for the first showing of a film into a community experience.
"Films are our passion, and it's rewarding to see that our unique approach to covering the industry, online and off, has connected us with so many others movie enthusiasts," said Alex Billington, FirstShowing.net's president and executive editor, and the site's lead blogger. "And with Giant Realm behind us, we're now in a position to put even more resources behind FirstShowing.net in order to further expand the company and its community."
