America's Emergency Network Teams With Hughes

MIAMI and GERMANTOWN, Md., July 17 /PRNewswire/ -- America's Emergency Network, Inc. (AEN), a wholly owned subsidiary of Brampton Crest International, Inc. (BULLETIN BOARD: BRCI) , today announced that it has entered into an agreement with Hughes Network Systems, LLC, wholly owned subsidiary of Hughes Communications, Inc. , under which Hughes will provide the broadband satellite backbone of AEN's pioneering satellite- video-Internet emergency communications network using HughesNet service, powered by the new SPACEWAY(TM) 3 satellite system.
Combining AEN's expertise with Hughes' state-of-the-art Ka-band satellite system will enable AEN to transmit up to three simultaneous video streams originating from any location in the United States, southern Canada, Puerto Rico, and several major Latin American cities.
These side-by-side-by-side video streams will provide high-resolution video suitable for television outlets; video that can be fed directly to publicly available web pages; and in the future, video that will be sent directly to cell phones, PDAs, and other mobile devices.
This will enable emergency managers and other officials to instantly transmit to the public -- and each other -- vital, real-time emergency information through a wide variety of means.
"We are extremely pleased with the performance of Hughes' first-of-its- kind SPACEWAY 3 satellite, which enabled our system to win high praise from emergency managers during Florida's recent annual hurricane exercise," said Bryan Norcross, AEN's president and Chief Executive Officer.
In that exercise, AEN was the first Hughes customer to use SPACEWAY 3 in a real-world emergency preparedness situation.
AEN and Florida's Division of Emergency Management, widely recognized as a national leader in the field, signed a Memorandum of Understanding that will allow news briefings held at the state emergency operations center to be distributed through AEN's new emergency communications system.
Mike Cook, senior vice president at Hughes, said, "SPACEWAY 3 is the ideal platform to carry the AEN service. Its bandwidth-on-demand capability is the perfect solution for sending information that by its nature can't be scheduled and will come in bursts. AEN will only pay for the extra bandwidth when its needed."
About SPACEWAY 3
SPACEWAY 3 is the world's first commercial satellite system with on-board switching and routing, and combined with many other technology advances enables bandwidth-on-demand services and high-speed data networking, which ideally fit AEN's emergency-communications requirements. Operating in the globally-assigned Ka-band spectrum, SPACEWAY 3 employs high-performance, onboard digital processing, packet switching, and spot-beam technology to offer direct site-to-site video streaming connectivity at throughputs never before available. SPACEWAY 3 combines the traditional advantages of satellite, namely ubiquitous reach and efficient broadcast/multicast, with high data rates and mesh connectivity-to deliver customers a fast, efficient, flexible, and cost-effective communications solution.
