WilTel Receives Two Communications Solutions Magazine ''Product of the Year'' Awards for 2004; StorageXtend and Managed EWAN Honored for Outstanding Innovation

Posted on: Thursday, 5 May 2005, 09:00 CDT

WilTel Communications announced today that Technology Marketing Corporation's (TMC(R)) Communications Solutions(TM) magazine (www.tmcnet.com/comsol) recently selected both StorageXtend(SM) and Managed EWAN for its 2004 "Product of the Year" award.

"Both of these services deliver on two major needs for enterprises -- simplified network management and reduction of capital costs and expenses," said Tony Tomae, senior vice president of marketing for WilTel. "WilTel engineered these solutions from the ground up to meet the specific wide-area networking needs of enterprise companies."

WilTel's StorageXtend is a SONET-based storage extension solution that enables enterprise customers to implement network-based business continuity, disaster recovery, as well as server and storage consolidation. StorageXtend is the industry's first solution to remove cost-prohibitive networking barriers by enabling businesses to select scalable, right-sized bandwidth in 50 Mbps increments.

Managed EWAN is a fully monitored and managed, premise-to-premise Ethernet service supported with end-to-end service level agreements (SLAs). It is the industry's first nationwide solution to extend native Ethernet directly to customer premises, providing cost-effective connectivity for multipoint wide-area networks.

"Each year Communications Solutions magazine bestows its Product of the Year awards on companies that have demonstrated excellence in technological advancement and application refinements. WilTel's StorageXtend and Managed EWAN have demonstrated to the editors of Communications Solutions that they have gone the extra mile to help improve both the customer experience and the ROI for the companies that use them," said Rich Tehrani, President and Group Publisher of Communications Solutions.

The Product of the Year Award winners for 2004 will be published in the May 2005 issue of Communications Solutions magazine online (www.tmcnet.com/comsol).
