July 18, 2008

Nokia Siemens has won a three-year contract from Telefonica O2 Germany to expand its 2G and 3G networks.

It will upgrade the 3G network with HSDPA software functionality across Germany, modernize the 2G network, and provide EDGE software for high-speed data capability for both the 2G and GSM networks.

Andrea Folgueiras, CTO of O2 in Germany, said: “Our objective is to use the most advanced technology to increase our coverage and reduce costs. To achieve our goals, we need reliable partners who can supply us with state-of-the-art equipment and extensive services at best commercial conditions.”
