Jul. 21–Lorenzo Favela, who police say died Saturday after being involved in a fight, was allegedly kicked, punched and beaten with bats, rocks and bricks throughout his body and head, according to a police complaint affidavit obtained by the El Paso Times on Monday.

Martin Sanchez, 21, of the 3800 block of Flory; Henry Brockington, 18, of the 2600 block of Nation; and Joseph Reyes, 17, 220 block of Fairview, have all been arrested and each charged with engaging in organized criminal activity/murder in connection with the 19-year-old’s slaying, according to police complaint affidavits and jail records.

Police said they are searching for additional people who may have been involved in the fight.

At about 1:39 a.m. Saturday, police were dispatched to the 3800 block of Thomason. Favela was found at the scene with numerous injuries, police said.

An investigation revealed Sanchez, Reyes, Brockington and other men allegedly became involved in a verbal argument with Favela, that allegedly escalated, police said.

Three affidavits for each of the men arrested state “at one point, the victim (Favela) was knocked to the ground and beaten by (the men) with their hands, feet, bricks, bats and rocks. The injuries sustained by the victim caused his death.”

All the men fled the scene, but were later arrested and identified through a photo line-up, according to affidavits.

The men “are known active gang member,” affidavits state.

Favela was an Austin High School graduate and was known by friends as Larry, according to MySpace, an on-line social networking Web site.

“Living life to the fullest every day, is all we can do,” he said stated on the Web site.

The Web site has been visited by dozens of friends mourning his death.

Anyone with information is asked to call the El Paso Police Department at 832-4400.
