Susteen Selected By Alltel to Provide In-Store Transfer Solution for Contact Information - Susteen's DataPilot Transfer Center Continues to Deliver
Posted on: Tuesday, 10 May 2005, 09:00 CDT
IRVINE, Calif., May 10 /PRNewswire/ -- Susteen, Inc., an international design solution provider specializing in the area of data communications and mobile computing, announced that Alltel Corporation chose to extend the use of its DataPilot Transfer Center (DTC), an innovative in-store tool to transfer contact information from one cell phone to the next, for the second year in a row. Alltel's customers are now able to keep their contact information when purchasing new handsets at Alltel's retail stores. This service is currently offered at all Alltel retail locations.
With the advent of the Wireless Local Number Portability Act (WLNP), along with rapid technological enhancement of cell phone functionality, the phone replacement cycle has shortened and new handsets sales have increased. As end users are increasingly purchasing new handsets, so is their desire to transfer their contacts from their "old" handset to their "new" handset. To address this trend, Susteen has developed and engineered DTC to allow for simple software and hardware operation by a wireless retailer, in order to save valuable time for sales representatives using this product in their retail establishment. Literally "one click of the computer mouse" transfers all contacts flawlessly between cell phones. DTC currently supports more than 270 different cell phone models and is compatible with most device manufacturers and mobile operators.
Alltel chose to extend its use of DataPilot Transfer Center based on several key factors, including: Susteen's speed in supporting new handsets as they are released in the market, the easy manipulation and operation of Susteen's solution, and the extensive library of communication protocols with cell phones that covers the majority of wireless devices -- from every major handset manufacturer, across all carriers.
"We are happy to continue providing our in-store data transfer solution to Alltel. This proves that DTC is a robust and mature solution, which delivers value to both Alltel's customers and sales representatives in the store. Susteen is committed to the ongoing development of DTC to assist the needs of mobile operators to provide their customers with the convenience of managing their mobile content," said Hiroyuki Maruyama, CEO with Susteen, Inc.
