Apparent Networks Joins BMC Software's Technology Alliance Program

Apparent Networks announced today that it has joined BMC Software's Technology Alliance Program (TAP), a move that will bring Apparent Networks' powerful, application-centric view of network performance to BMC Software's growing suite of Business Service Management solutions.
BMC Software is a leading global provider of enterprise management solutions. TAP was developed to support technology companies whose products complement BMC Software solutions, providing customers a more complete range of solutions and a path to Business Service Management. Apparent Networks technology plays a critical role in helping companies manage network performance and application delivery in large, converged environments.
"Apparent Networks will improve BMC Software customers' visibility into how issues in local and managed service networks affect application performance," said Keith Bartlett, vice president of business development for Apparent Networks. "In turn, our mutual customers will be able to access the value of AppCritical through the BMC IT management infrastructures they already have in place. By combining our capabilities, we will be able to further enhance the positive business impact and increase the value of the solutions that BMC is delivering to its customers today."
The partnership will allow Apparent Networks and BMC Software to share technical knowledge and develop integrated technologies that provide a total solution to address the management requirements of network-dependent applications. The bi-directional integration of AppCritical with the BMC Remedy and Performance Manager product lines will dramatically improve users' abilities to monitor the performance of their networks and enable IT teams to identify and resolve issues before they impact applications users. Through the creation of Remedy Action Request Tickets and Performance Manager Alarms, users will be notified of performance issues and provided with the detailed metrics, history and diagnostic information identifying the precise location and cause of the issue.
Going far beyond simple SNMP and RMON tools, AppCritical will enable users to monitor application traffic across an entire 'network path,' including the segments controlled by service providers or other third parties. This embedded intelligence will give customers new and more effective ways to manage their service providers and speed incident resolution -- all within the BMC management system already in use. Apparent Networks also plans integrations with the BMC Atrium Configuration Management Database, Real Ops and Blade Logic product lines to expand their network visibility into these application, system and configuration management platforms.
