Dfest Web Site Goes Mobile This Year: The Festival

July 24, 2008

Jul. 24–Like the whale of the classic novel, it’s big.

The mobile Web site, www.dfest.mobi, created for Diversafest, or Dfest, Music Conference and Festival, provides easy access to key information from any mobile device.

It’s the first time that Dfest has worked with the site in a “greening” opportunity for the seventh annual event.

The “mobile Web site” is designed specifically to be viewed on a mobile phone or device with Internet capability.

Dfest organizers saw the need for such a customized site because its core demographic — young professionals and musicians — increasingly look to the mobile Web to provide information needed about entertainment options.

“We are excited to offer this new mobile Web site to complement our traditional site,” said Tom Green, the chief executive officer and president of Diversafest LLC. “Since our conference and festival attendees are typically very digitally connected, we know they have come to expect information to be easily accessible on the Web.”

When visiting www.dfest.mobi with any Internet- capable mobile phone, attendees can quickly access fast facts about the

festival, such as performance schedules, conference information and maps of the area.

Dfest, on Friday and Saturday, is Oklahoma’s largest music conference and festival. It takes place in Tulsa’s Blue Dome District in the east side of downtown.

It will feature 150 artists and 20-plus musical genres on 12 stages. Headliners include Paramore, The Roots, The All-American Rejects, Ghostland Observatory, Zappa Plays Zappa, Helmet, The Disco Biscuits, Edison Glass and more than 120 unsigned artists.

The two-day festival will also include a conference consisting of music industry panels, a trade show, music clinics and mentoring sessions designed to educate working musicians and music enthusiasts in any stage of their careers.

The conference will take place at the Crowne Plaza Hotel downtown, just walking distance from the Blue Dome District.

More than 60,000 attendees are expected at the event, organizers said.
