Students’ Play Will Recreate Moses’ Freeing Israelites
By The Miami Herald
Jul. 27–The Biblical story of Moses setting his people free will be recreated in dance, music and storytelling by youngsters performing Let My People Go 7 p.m. Thursday at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church in Perrine.
The kids are participating in the Artology Summer Performing Arts Camp at the church. They will put on the Thursday program.
A team of artists led by artistic director and dance instructor Michelle Grant Murray has been working with the kids three mornings a week.
They learned dance, storytelling, music, stagecraft and costuming.
On Thursday, they will tell the story of Moses freeing the Israelites from their enslavement in Egypt and leading them across the Red Sea.
Artology is a program provided by Family and Children Faith Coalition in partnership with the Summer Camp program at Sweet Home Missionary Baptist Church.
The Artology Summer Performing Arts Camp is also funded by The Children’s Trust, the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs, the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County mayor’s office and County Commissioners.
Tickets for Thursday’s performance are $5 and will be sold at the door of the church, 17201 SW 103rd Ave.
