First Sale of Lucent's VitalSuite(R) Network Trouble Patterning Software in Canada
Lucent Technologies (NYSE:LU) today announced an agreement with Canadian wireless carrier TELUS Mobility to provide trouble-patterning software to enhance the service support and reliability of TELUS Mobility's already best-in-class third-generation (3G) CDMA2000(R) network performance.
Lucent will provide its VitalSuite(R) network trouble-patterning software (previously known as Netminder(TM) NTP) which provides detailed surveillance, through analysis and prompt network problem identification, to ensure technical problems are detected and resolved quickly, reducing lost revenues and overall operating expenses and increasing network quality and availability. The system was implemented by Lucent Worldwide Services.
"At TELUS Mobility, we pride ourselves on our world-class client satisfaction levels, and we're continually implementing solutions that ensure we maintain our unparalleled network performance," said Hilbert Chan, TELUS Mobility's Vice President of Corporate Engineering. "The Lucent network trouble patterning software solution enables us to detect any technical problems before or as they occur and quickly locate and fix them. That means fewer dropped calls, reduced repair times and improved network reliability for our clients across Canada."
"Our goal is to provide TELUS Mobility with solutions that enable new, high quality services and greater network efficiencies" said Alex Giosa, President, Lucent Technologies Canada. "We're proud to be a partner of TELUS Mobility, a company on the forefront of technology and a leader in North America"
About the Solution
Developed by Bell Labs, Lucent's VitalSuite(R) network trouble patterning software provides TELUS Mobility with a comprehensive network level view of services across a wide range of network elements from a single screen, allowing TELUS Mobility to quickly and easily identify network failures.
Unlike traditional fault management systems that only detect physical errors, Lucent's network trouble patterning software detects logical problems - like provisioning or routing errors, changes in customer usage or overall call quality and completion rates - across an entire network. By using a threshold-based analysis and correlation tool, the software can identify potential problems and errors before and as they happen, enabling TELUS Mobility to optimize their network performance and service level quality before identified problems impact customer service.
The Lucent network trouble patterning software is part of the VitalSuite(R) portfolio, a robust network and service management software solutions portfolio offering highly scalable, multi-vendor solutions that enhance the end-user experience, enable converged services and maximize business returns. Lucent provides market-leading integrated OSS management solutions that deliver today's complex IMS services.
Lucent's award-winning VitalSuite(R) Network and Service Management portfolio is used today by more than 200 fixed, mobile and broadband customers world-wide. Lucent leverages innovations from Bell Labs and experience and expertise from Lucent Worldwide Services to provide highly flexible, scalable solutions that enable converged services, enhance the end-user experience and accelerate time to revenue, and partners with world-class system integrators, complementary ISVs and hardware vendors to deliver end-to-end solutions that reduce operational complexities, ease integration costs and maximize profitability.
