Nirvanix Builds on Digital Media Success With Appointment of Ezra Davidson

July 30, 2008

Nirvanix, the premier “Cloud Storage” platform provider optimized for media and large files, today announced the appointment of industry veteran Ezra Davidson to the newly-created position of Managing Director, Media Entertainment Services in which he will work closely with the entertainment industry helping them leverage the Nirvanix Storage Delivery Network optimized for digital media. He reports to Daniel Havens, Vice President of Sales.

With more than 20 years experience with computer/Internet technologies focusing on the media and entertainment industries, Davidson has specialized in digital media since 1998 when he co-founded SyncCast, a provider and developer of secure digital media technology and delivery solutions, where he served as the Executive Vice President of Business Development until the company’s sale to Technicolor in 2007. Davidson was responsible for developing SyncCast’s relationships with leading media companies Billboard, Universal Studios, Microsoft, DirecTV, Comcast, Warner Music Group, Wal-Mart, Trans World Entertainment, Motorola, Warner Bros. Studios, EMI Music Group, Arbitron, MPAA, RIAA and others.

“There could not be a hotter place to be than the confluence of storage, digital delivery and media services in the entertainment industry. When a media company wants all its content online, Content Distribution Networks alone are not the answer when you look at the economics,” said Davidson. “On the other hand, building and managing data centers to handle origin storage forces a media company out of its core business. Cloud storage is changing the economics of delivering media via the internet. It is a reliable and fast method for managing petabytes of content origin storage globally. Nirvanix, with its Storage Delivery Network, is a leader in this space. My goal is to help media companies understand the technology and leverage these advantages.”

“Having built SyncCast into a worldwide solution provider for secure delivery of digital media over the Internet, Ezra has a proven success record of developing relationships with key entertainment industry contacts and in expanding business opportunities for both his and his clients’ companies,” said Havens. “We saw the opportunity to bring Ezra into Nirvanix to help leading entertainment and digital media companies see the value in delivering their content through the Nirvanix SDN and to better understand the benefits of unprecedented reliability, scalability and data availability that only Nirvanix can offer. We look forward to his contributions to our expanded digital media division.”

Prior to SyncCast, Davidson served as the Regional Director – Czech Operations/Director of Finance for Metromedia International Group, a global communications and media company; Accounting Director for The Brown Organization; and a Senior Consultant for Deloitte. He graduated from Morehouse College with a Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting/English.

About The Storage Delivery Network

Nirvanix has built a global cluster of storage nodes collectively referred to as the Storage Delivery Network (SDN), powered by the Nirvanix Internet Media File System (IMFS). The SDN intelligently stores, delivers and processes storage requests in the best network location, providing the best user experience in the marketplace. With the ability to store multiple file copies in multiple geographic nodes, the SDN enables unparalleled data availability for developers, businesses and enterprises.

By using the Nirvanix SDN versus alternatives such as adding network storage systems or using first generation online storage platforms, businesses are guaranteed a shorter time-to-market, 80% savings over building their own storage operations, and also benefit from better flexibility and control for their operations.
