Spanish telecomm company Telefonica has signed a framework agreement with Google for the provision of the Google Maps for Mobile service to its mobile telephony customers.
Under the agreement, Telefonica can offer its customers with the new service in two ways, either by adding a link on the WAP portal to the page for downloading Google Maps for Mobile (GMM) or by preloading it on eligible handsets.
According to Telefonica, its customers purchasing a new handset will find the application directly on the menu page, particularly handsets with Windows Mobile and Blackberry, while existing customers of Telefonica Spain with compatible handsets can download the application from the emocion menu bar.
