BRIEF: Marine Facing Porn Charges: Marine Charged With Attempted Distribution of Child Pornography

By Ellen Biltz, The Free Lance-Star, Fredericksburg, Va.

Aug. 1--A Marine stationed at Quantico was arrested Wednesday after a detective said he found hundreds of photos and videos of child pornography on the man's computer.

Joshua Gougeon, 24, of Spotsylvania County, was charged with 29 counts of possession of child pornography with the intent to distribute and one count of possession of child pornography, said 1st Sgt. Liz Scott of the Spotsylvania Sheriff's Office in a release.

Spotsylvania Detective J.C. Blankenship began investigating Gougeon, who was stationed at Quantico in the Marine Corps Recruiting Command Office on July 2.

She said that day, Blankenship came across videos being distributed on a peer-to-peer sharing site geared toward pornography.

Blankenship found 16 videos of known child pornography being shared from an Internet address that traced to a Spotsylvania residence.

After getting a search warrant for the residence on Sunburst Lane, Blankenship discovered 80 videos and 900 images on Gougeon's computer, many of which included child pornography, Scott said.

She said Gougeon is being held at Rappahannock Regional Jail under no bond and the investigation is still ongoing.
