RICHMOND, Va., May 18 /PRNewswire/ -- Mapcom Systems announced today the release of M4(R) Solutions v6.5, the debut version of its Windows-based Geographical Operations System (GOS) software for telecommunications companies. Retaining all of the functionality of previous releases, the release includes the major additions of complete fiber management (copper- integrated or stand-alone) and increased work order capabilities, including one-step staking sheets and CPR generation.
M4(R) Solutions' ability to easily integrate with any open database and most billing, accounting, network management and customer service applications, as well as clearly represent components of all applications geographically on a map, has taken M4(R) from being solely plant management software to being a unifying geographical operations system (GOS) that increases operational efficiency by up to 33%.
The M4(R) Fiber module facilitates the design, implementation and management of the fiber network and allows users to manage fiber alone or to integrate with their copper network, managing both networks simultaneously in a consistent, accurate format. When used with the M4(R) Integration Engine, users may correlate customers to individual pieces of equipment and work in conjunction with existing Element Management Systems (EMS). Companies know immediately who is affected by outages and have instant, geographically-based access to fiber cut locations and splicing priorities, significantly reducing outage times.
"The beauty of the GOS approach, especially in regard to fiber management, is that it not only has outstanding stand-alone capabilities, but it also makes other existing applications more useful to our customers. By combining fiber management with our existing copper tools, and integrating with the user's existing billing, accounting, network management and customer service/support systems, M4(R) Solutions enables employees from various departments within a telecommunications company to share the power of each others' applications and expertise quickly and efficiently," explained John Granger, Mapcom's President and CEO.
The improved M4(R) Work Order module contains an upgraded staking sheet tool that allows users to perform configurable tabulation, tracking assets and costs in design per staking sheet; rotate boundaries to best represent work areas, and allows accounting to pull costs and inventory per staking sheet to incorporate into CPRs. M4(R) Work Order allows users to manage copper, coax and fiber individually or together, and literally prevents records from getting out of synch with one another.
"Particularly in a time when there is significant new construction related to network upgrades and rebuilds, the ability to process work orders seamlessly from initial design all the way through to accounting is critical for companies seeking improved efficiency and productivity," said Granger. "These improvements to M4(R) Work Order will save multiple steps and significant amounts of time for our customers."
